Thanks so much to those of you who’ve sent messages – they really, really ARE very much appreciated!

I’ve decided to go to spend a few days with my brother, in York, so before I go, I’m uploading the Stazon Technique cards I promised and the card I made with Lindsay Mason.

These were made around 5 years ago, when the technique was on the Stampers Anonymous website (it no longer appears to be there) so my stamping has changed a little since then.  I still love and use these images.

It’s a really great technique to get you playing with contrasts and I love contrasts :-)

Here’s my Lindsay Mason card. If I’d done this at home, I wouldn’t have covered up the gorgeous background (acrylic resist and DIs) but I was following instructions (in my own way) so this is how it ended up.

I still love this Zetti girl – I think she reminds me of me – and I love to use colours that don’t match with her.

Lindsay is a lovely, no airs and graces person – I was speaking to her again at the weekend when she was demoing at a show.  I love her arty designs and her words. Her journalling is fab and I’m sure you’ll agree if you get to see it.  She’s been at Port Sunny the last couple of years, too, so let’s hope she’ll be there again.

See you soon and thanks again.

Sorry I haven’t been around much – life does sometimes get in the way.  I haven’t been able to bloghop as much as I like to, so I haven’t been visiting much, either – please forgive me.  Must make some changes….

I haven’t been stamping much, but I have stamped a little and here are a few of the card I’ve made – most of them for the KCUK challenges.

I have made more but didn’t scan them all and there are some still waiting.  I also found my old ‘Stazon Technique’ samples, which I taught to several groups at one of our Stamp Camps, so I’ll upload those, along with a card I made at a Lindsay Mason Stamp Club meeting, last week.

Be back soon, unless I go to see my brother…

Have a great week, everyone!

First of all, I’m sharing a couple of bits I keep forgetting to  blog!  The top two are on glossy card.

I spent Tuesday with a lovely friend, who came to visit, and we had a great time.  She arrived with presents of hand made books and brought some of her most recent work to show me.  I was inspired!

Doing as I’m told (as always??? ahem!) I dragged out my BIA and blew away the cobwebs, then  took out my treasure box of backgrounds and proceeded to make a journal from some of them. I added a few other bits I’ve been saving up along the way.

This is the cover, though it’s in its bare bones state at the moment, waiting to be decorated if I ever get my room sorted out – help!!!

HM JOURNAL COVER

Inside cover and end pages. Sorry, but this won’t load the right way round – it’s A4 landscape size, so too wide!)

Today, I’ve worked on a couple of the pages, though I’m not quite finished yet.

I’ve been hoarding some of these papers for years and been trying to use them up when I start things, instead of creating more and more to add to them.  This is a great way to use up some of your stash so that you’re free to make more!  He, he…!

Thanks, Ann.

I’m already looking forward to next time…

Happy Weekend, everyone!

The challenge over at Addicted to Stamps and more is Make your Mark, showcasing whichever mediums you use to colour. I seem to have a thing for flutterbies at the moment and have used a variety of mediums, including Prisma and Inktense pencils, but have finished the bottom two with lots of of gel pen – something I rarely use – I really enjoyed it, too.

Monday 1 July 2013

Just thought I’d blog my two most recent creations – cards only, sorry but I’ll be doing more soon because I’m now teaching classes again – yay!  I’ve really missed it and now I have a legitimate reason to play :-)

I’m entering this first one into the Simon Says Stamp and Show ‘Anything Goes’  challenge for this week and also into the Dream Challenge on KCUK.

CATH DREAM

I has a lovely surprise in the mail last week, when I found a parcel from New Zealand, sent by Mum, in which were some gorgeous SU stamps!  Mum knows how much I love leaves and all things French, so she couldn’t have chosen better.  I do have a few projects in progress with this set, so I’ll be posting more.

Thanks, Mum!

See you all soon!

Sickness stopped play – unfortunately, I had a few days in bed and am now playing catch up, but here are the cards I promised to upload.  They’re all pretty similar and the bottom two are made for the one layer challenge.

Just noticed this hasn’t scanned well – digital just doesn’t pick up colour variation well – there are two shades of grey in there, too.

Monday 17 June 2013

Thanks to all those of you who’ve still been following my inactive blog – so sorry for being absent but it’s been a strange few months.  I expected to have lots of time to myself but it just hasn’t happened and in fact, I have far less time than I had before I moved out!  The time is filled mainly with good things, though.

Been trying to catch up and make a few cards for birthdays and other things I’ve missed while out of action and have also done a little journalling but not sure I’m ready to show that yet.

WHEAT JUN13

There‘s some pale shadow stamping on this one but for some reason it hasn’t scanned at all. Maybe I’ll rescan…

This was for a one layer card challenge – sadly, I may just have to cut off the front and mount it because I think it needs more definition and something to frame it – or maybe I’ll go with it  because I NEED cards desperately – I’m WAY behind.

THAT FACE ONE LAYER

Here’s another one I may well remount, although I love the delicate feel of it as it is.  The gorgeous colours are Tombow pens – beautiful.

EARTH LAUGHS ONE LAYER

I’ve kept some back and will post ASAP, though I’m out most of tomorrow.

Really missed my bloghopping time but will do some more this week, all being well.

Blessings

I stamped – woohoo!  Couldn’t think of what to do or which stamps to use and I still don’t know where some things are but I had to make something to christen my new home.  I also had to join in a challenge set on KCUK, so the theme was floral and I kept it relatively simple.

CATHFLORAL1

Hope to be back soon, with a little bit more stamping but I’m doggysitting at the moment, so not as free as I’d like to be. Six month old Shih Tzus like a lot of attention!

Have a great week!

Sunday 14 April 2013

It’s been one of those strange weeks, with lots of appointments and things to arrange but I did manage to fit in a little bit of stamping for some important people, even if it was pretty quickly over and done.

This one’s stamped with felt tip pens (Tombows) – image Penny Black.

toy 1

Another Penny Black image (always useful for quick, effective cards) but this time stamped in Brilliance Thyme ink.  Love that Nestie background, but if I’m honest, I used to deckle cut a lot of borders when I first started stamping, so it’s a bit like going back to basics – the hard way ;)

toy2

Glossy card, Dylusions inks and one of my favourite ‘cute’ stamps, with that lovely water droplet background I fell in love with on Carol Q’s blog

This one was for someone very special to me who’s having a  rough time of it lately.

Most of my craft room is packed up now – just hope I’ll be able to stamp again soon…

Enjoy your weekend!

PLEASE NOTE!

I’m in the process of moving this site to a new home:-

http://inkycorner.wordpress.com/

I’m sure it will take a while to sort out because I have a lot of other things on at the moment, but right now, I’m struggling because my current email provider has moved to another major company.  Unfortunately, they’ve duplicated some IDs and I’m unable to sign into more than one at a time., which has really messed up my Blogger and Yahoo accounts!

I’ll keep posting in both blogs for a little while, but hope you’ll join me at the new one!  Sorry about this.

________________________________________________________________

It was my birthday not long ago and my lovely friends spoiled me (Thank you to all) so I made some Thank you cards to send.

I had a few to make and very little time, so they had to be quick and uncomplicated.

TY3

TY2

I’d wanted to try this for a while now, so I die cut a butterfly mask in acetate, then sponged and stamped through it.  I quite like this effect, but the ‘Thank you’ should have been further up in the right hand corner.  I’ll get that right next time…

Thanks for visiting and welcome to my new followers!

Sunday 31 March 2013

Happy Easter and God’s best blessings to you all!

Some of my friends have been using some of the new (very stylised) floral stamps designed by Jo Firth Young and I quite like them, but daren’t buy anything more at the moment…

Another friend suggested drawing similar flowers and sent me one of her sketches, which encouraged me to have a go, too. Here they are in my A4 journal.

I’ve been really surprised at how much freer I feel with a bigger page.

EASTER JOURNALLING

I’m going to enter this and my ATCs into this week’s Simon Says Stamp challenge, which is ANYTHING GOES.

I also put my name down for the KCUK March ATC swap, Paris, one of my favourite places.  I don’t really make many ATCs these days, and I’m not sure if the hostess will accept them at this late date, but here are my very simple offerings.

CATH PARIS 2

CATH PARIS 1

I started with inky backgrounds I’d already made, flicking a little water on for a bit of contrast, then adding a little colour with Promarkers, Copics and pencils.  The bottom one is one of my new Birthday stamps (which I love) and I’ve used a couple of the others here and there.  I can see me using them quite a lot in the future!

I can’t really get all my stamps and inks out right now, because I’m putting them all away.  I’m trying to downsize drastically and need to prioritise and reorganise! I may go AWOL for a little while…

Hope your weekend is very special!

Thursday 28 March 2013

I’ve always loved natural, rustic things and Kraft papers and bags fall right into that category, so I’ve used them for years on and off.

I followed a link the other day which led to a really pretty card on Kraft, with a hint of turquoise, one of my favourite colours.  I can’t remember the link – sorry and hope I’m not offending anyone – but here’s my version of what I saw and I love it!

The background (Darkroom Door) is stamped in Versamark and clear embossed.

Have a lovely Easter!

Saturday 23 March 2013

I think there’s an element of psychology at work here – I’m stamping Spring colours while outside it’s snowing – AGAIN!  I’ve had no mail for two days because of the snow and I just came back from braving the elements to go to town, in search of some fresh food!  Brr!  It was supposed to be raining by now – NOT snowing again OR forecast more for tomorrow morning!

So here’s my second Spring Colours contribution to KCUK and this time I used very Spring like colours – bright and positive.  Spring is also the theme for the Everybody Art Challenge 228, so I’ll be posting a link there.

CATH SPRING COLOURS 2

Forgot to mention that I used Dylusions inks on glossy card, which is why they’re so much paler – then added a touch of Adirondack Sunshine yellow and stamped with Adirondacks Meadow and Bottle.

Stay warm, everyone and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Just a few bits I made recently…

Spring Colours challenge on KCUK.  Not really spring colours but at least they’re pastels… and they’re also ANALOGOUS colours (all side by side on the Colour wheel) so I’m entering it in this week’s  Our Creative Corner challenge.

Friday 8 March 2013

Been doing a bit of journalling in my A4 journal the past week or so – it really does help and although the size of the canvas is scary at first, it gives you more space to breathe, somehow…. I enjoyed building these layers with Neocolours and inks.

Need to get a rubber (eraser) on the pencil lines before I forget!
